Frequently Asked Questions:

  • When is payment due?

Payment is due when you arrive at the farm BEFORE your field trip begins. At arrival, a teacher/coordinator needs to come into the Farm Store to get the buckets and make the payment. Payment must be the lump sum for all students. In order to stay on schedule, we are not able to take individual payments from each student or homeschool family. We accept cash, check, or credit cards. Make checks payable to Panola Orchard.

  • What happens if we are running late to our field trip?

Field trips must begin and end at scheduled times. We often have multiple groups coming in each day, so we must stay on schedule. We are unable to delay the start of a field trip in order to wait on someone’s arrival. If a group arrives late then we will have to make changes to the field trip in order to stay on schedule. This means less time for picking fruit, a shortened or omitted guided tour, or no lunch time at the farm.

  • Is there an admission fee for parents/guardians or siblings?

No. There is no admission fee to our farm. Although we encourage parents/guardians and siblings to share the experience by picking strawberries, they are NOT required to pick. Parents/guardians and siblings are welcome to enjoy the outing without any obligation to make any purchases. If they choose to pick, we will honor the same package prices as above. Discounts are only offered for strawberries only. Parents/guardians/siblings who purchase ice cream, must pay regular price. Parents/guardians/siblings may come into the farm store at arrival to purchase a bucket for picking. If a parent/guardian wants to pick a large quantity of strawberries, then we also have a “pay by the pound option” and gallon buckets can be purchased inside our farm store at arrival.

  • What happens if it rains?

We cannot do a field trip in the rain. Any field trips that are rained out will be rescheduled (if any openings are available) or canceled (if no openings are available).

  • Are there any other reasons (other than rain) that would cause a field trip to be rescheduled or canceled?

We always do our best to prevent rescheduling or canceling field trips, but farming can be very unpredictable. Weather can drastically affect a crop and the fruit (hail storms, excessive rain, drought, etc.). Please understand that some things are beyond our control and there is no guarantee; therefore, we do not take deposits.

  • What if the group needs to cancel a field trip (for reasons other than weather)?

Cancelations must be done no later than 48 hours prior to the field trip start time. Call the farm store at 903-766-2440 to cancel.

  • Do we need to bring anything with us for the field trip?

We highly recommend bringing water. Ice chests can be taken on the farm wagon and to the strawberry field if needed. We also recommend bringing a marker in order to write students’ names on the buckets (particularly for elementary aged students). For those traveling on a school bus, it’s best to bring a large box for transporting all of the buckets back to the school.
